FIRE DETECTION
Do not give dust explosion a chance.
In combination with an ignition source, a potentially explosive mixture of powder and air can ignite, causing a dust explosion in a closed volume such as a cyclone or a filter. To avoid the intake of a fire-catching powder in the cyclone or filter, a fire detection is installed in the powder coating booth. As a result, an evolving fire can be recognised.
In order to extinguish the fire, CO2 is injected into the pipes between the booth and the cyclone or filter. Such a CO2 barrier prevents the spread of the fire to the filter and eliminates the risk of explosion.
